About: The Lancaster Farmers Market is an outdoor, seasonal community market, located in downtown Lancaster. It is operated by a non profit organization whose mission is to champion the production and accessibility of local foods and products for the enrichment of our community. Overview The Farmers Market & SNAP Coordinator will play a key role in the weekly functioning of the seasonal Lancaster Farmers Market and administer our SNAP and Produce Perks program. Starting date: ASAP Responsibilities • On-the-ground coordination of the farmers market on Saturday mornings, including set up and tear down and staffing the info booth during operating hours • Represent the farmers market to vendors, customers, volunteers and community partners • Assist market manager with enforcing market rules and regulations • Provide customer service to SNAP customers shopping at the farmers market, including operating payment processing equipment and data collection via tablet • Clearly follow rules, requirements and procedures for SNAP and Produce Perks • Administration and record keeping of tokens, transactions and reimbursements • Outreach to community partners • Assist market manager with regular communications and marketing activities • Collaborate with market manager to oversee volunteers.
Qualifications: Excellent customer service, people skills and relationship building ability • Attention to detail, highly organized • Passion for local food and community • Comfortable with computers • Talent for marketing & social media • Forward thinking, displays initiative • Personal or professional experience with food access programs • Able to walk and stand for several hours at a time and work in outdoor weather conditions
Reports To: Market Manager
Hours: Seasonal Position: 300 Hours Total
During Market Season: May 1 - October 2 Saturdays 7:30 am - 1:30 pm, Plus 5 hours per week for administration, outreach and coordination (timing flexible)
Pre & Post Market Season: approximately 25 hours training, planning, wrap-up Potential for additional hours with cross training for work with the Keller Market House.
Compensation: $12 / hour
