  • Grants Finance Specialist (Part-Time)

    The City of Lancaster is looking for a part-time Grants Finance Specialist to support the Community Development Department. This position is part-time, working 20-25 hours per week, 5 days per week. 

    The Part-Time Grants Finance Specialist is responsible for tracking grant revenue and expenditure transactions and activities for the Community Development Department to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.) 
    • Responsible for tracking revenue and expenses by grant source for multiple federal, state, and local grants.
    • Prepare reimbursement requests from funders and pay-in documentation to the City Auditor’s Office.
    • Reconcile monthly reports indicating receipt and expenditure transactions by funding source.
    • Assist with preparation of Departmental budgets, end-of-year reports to the Auditor’s Office, and quarterly and annual financial reports to funders.
    • Assist with preparation of Departmental legislation for City Council approval of financial-related requests.
    • Create, maintain, and monitor files used by Community Development including the setup and tracking of new and existing grants.
    • Assist with year-end financial procedures to close out or carry over purchase orders, run reports, and balance accounts.
    • Assist other Department Staff with financial management tasks and financial reports as needed.
    • Performs other duties as related to the essential functions


    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • High school diploma or equivalent, Associate Degree in Business or Accounting preferred; Three years previous financial management experience, government accounting preferred.
    • Strong financial management / accounting skills, e.g. critical thinking, problem-solving, detail oriented, ability to organize tasks and information, enjoy and excel at math and use of numbers, etc.
    • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data, to communicate in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing, and to maintain confidentiality with regard to various financial records.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based financial management systems.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and timeliness in preparing and entering financial information.
    • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background investigation.
