    Title: Deputy Director
    Reports to: Executive Director
    Work Schedule: 40 hours per week including occasional weekend and evening shifts, generally, no more than 2 per month
    Pay Range: $40,000 to $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus generous benefits package
    Location: Fairfield County Park District - 9270 Pickerington Road, Pickerington, OH  43147
    The Deputy Director will regularly report to this location.  Worksites exist throughout the county; a vehicle will be provided for travel between sites.

    Supports the Executive Director in the management of Park District operations, including the implementation of agency policies and procedures in accordance with Chapter 1545 of the Ohio Revised Code and By-Laws of the Board of Park Commissioners.  Assumes responsibility for district operations in the absence of the Executive Director.  Assists with supervision and development of park district staff.  Works closely with the Executive Director and staff to plan and execute efforts to support the park district’s mission and priorities.
    • support the Executive Director in a wide range of park development including project planning and implementation, partnership development, and long-term strategic planning
    • support the Executive Director in staff supervision including evaluation of staff members’ performance and needs and assistance with disciplinary actions as needed
    • function as a team member, bringing a professional and positive attitude to the work environment
    • assist with budget planning and tracking
    • assist with creation and implementation of land management plans
    • assist with planning and implementation of special events
    • development and maintenance of effective communications and positive working relationships with personnel, vendors, volunteers, visitors, county agencies, and outside partners
    • other duties as assigned
    • bachelor’s degree in natural resources, parks administration, or related field, and 4 years work experience in parks, natural resources, or related field
    • excellent communication skills in verbal and written formats and the ability to use technology as a tool for planning, communication, and administration.
    • successful leadership experience and necessary leadership traits such as a professional demeanor, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and good judgment
    • ability to work independently and collaboratively as park district needs and projects demand
    • flexibility to thrive in a park district work environment including working in an office and field work in a variety of locations and weather conditions
    • candidates with additional skills or experience in land management, invasive species control, grant writing, bike trail development, park or facilities maintenance, project management, park planning, government administration, or historic restoration may be preferred
    • ability to satisfactorily pass a background check
    • possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s License and insurability by park district’s insurance provider
    • ability to lift 50 pounds and regularly hike up to two miles
