The Fairfield 33 Alliance’s Career Readiness program will host its Career Signing Day on Thursday, August 12 at 3 p.m. at the Fairfield County Workforce Center, 4465 Coonpath Road. NW, Carroll, OH 43112.
Sponsored by Mid West Fabricating and TWC Enterprises, the event celebrates high school graduates as they begin their careers – and celebrates the businesses hiring them. It’s part of Fairfield 33’s Career Readiness program, which connects students to local businesses and helps those students achieve an endorsement that shows they are work ready. The program is a collaboration with the Fairfield County ESC and school districts throughout the county.
“We’re trying to highlight that enrolling in college right after high school is not always the best path for some students,” said Rick Szabrak, Fairfield County Economic and Workforce Development Director. “We want to recognize the hard work these recent graduates are doing and celebrate the start of what will be great careers. And with a national labor shortage, there’s a large pool of potential employees that just graduated from high school that employers can hire.”
During the event, graduates will experience an individual certificate signing with their employer and receive a gas card to help them with transportation. There will be refreshments and photo opportunities. Careers in manufacturing, skilled trades, healthcare, and finance will be highlighted at the event. Businesses interested in participating in the event can contact Ronda Baldwin at Ronda.Baldwin@FairfieldCountyOhio.gov.
“We have spent considerable time researching many career options and listening to various presenters and employers about the opportunities that are available to high school graduates,” said Karie Stone, a Fairfield County Career Navigator. “Students have also been working diligently on creating a career portfolio that shows their progress, capabilities and completion of this year's Career Readiness Endorsement. They are excited, ready and prepared to join the workforce and for the opportunities that are available right here in Fairfield County."
“Students have worked hard earning their endorsement this year,” said Mary Rawlins, Career Navigator for Pickerington Local Schools. “They have worked on soft skill certifications, resumes, mock interviews, attended employer presentations, took tours, and navigated a virtual job fair.” To learn more about the event visit Fairfield33.com.
