Economic Development = The aim of Economic Development is to recruit industrial development to the area. Why? Industrial development is the engine behind overall economic development. It is estimated that for every seven industrial jobs which are created, one hundred support jobs are spun-off in other areas -- grocery, automotive, banking, and countless others. If you are evaluating sites for the expansion or re-location of industrial activity, Lancaster/Fairfield County has many reasons to make sure it is on your list of sites to consider. 1. Location. Within a one-day drive resides 58% of the U.S. Population, 50% of the Canadian population, 61% of U.S. manufacturing capacity, 80% of U.S. corporate headquarters. 2. Labor Pool. Lancaster/Fairfield County is the portal to the southern Ohio labor market, via the Route 33 corridor. This labor pool is made up of hard-working, dedicated and highly trainable people. Wages are competitive but lower than what is seen in Columbus and nationally due to a more moderate cost of living. 3. Real Estate. Fairfield County has some of the lowest priced fully-served land in Central Ohio. Fully-served land is land which has road, gas, power, sewer and water services in place and ready to be used. 4. Incentive Programs. Federal, State and Local programs
including 5. Community. Lancaster/Fairfield County is the bridge between the dynamic, urban activity of Columbus, an industrial and cultural hub of the midwest, and the natural wonders and beauties of southern Ohio. Lancaster has been recognized as one of the nation's best "small arts towns" because of its active art community and a highly successful annual music and arts festival. |
